Standard Boutique Size + Fit Guide

Use this guide when an item does not have a dedicated brand size chart. Boutique sizing can vary by vendor, fabrication, stretch, and silhouette, so the product's Size + Fit notes should always take priority.

How to measure

• Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust while keeping the tape level.
• Natural waist: Measure around the narrowest point of your torso without pulling the tape tight.
• Hips: Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
• Rise: On well-fitting bottoms, measure from the crotch seam to the top of the front waistband.
• Inseam: Lay well-fitting pants flat and measure from the crotch seam to the bottom hem.

How to use product fit notes

• Runs small: Consider sizing up, especially for a fitted look or fabric with little stretch.
• True to size: Start with the size you wear most often in comparable boutique styles.
• Runs large: Consider sizing down for a closer fit.
• Relaxed or oversized: The extra room is intentional; choose your usual size unless the product notes recommend otherwise.
• Fitted: Designed to sit closer to the body. Check stretch and garment measurements when available.

Fabric and stretch matter

Rigid woven fabrics generally have less give than knits or stretch blends. Smocked panels, elastic waists, adjustable straps, wrap closures, and relaxed silhouettes can make the fit more flexible. Always review the fabric composition and exact product notes before choosing.

Between sizes?

Choose based on the area where you need the most room and the intended silhouette. For fitted, structured, or non-stretch styles, the larger size is often more comfortable. For relaxed or stretchy styles, the smaller size may provide the intended fit.
